This whimsical flower vase is adorned with hand-painted birds and flowers scattered among little triangle motifs, like a garden from a storybook. Soft, dreamy colors glow under the glossy, transparent glaze, giving the design a light and airy feel. The delicate glaze colors pair beautifully with the glossy white porcelain base, creating a harmonious backdrop for a single dainty bloom.
Its narrow mouth is suited to a single stem or a few delicate sprigs, such as seasonal blossoms or wildflowers. On a windowsill, desk, or entryway shelf, it adds a gentle touch of color to any room. Filled with flowers or displayed on its own, this charming vase makes a thoughtful gift for birthdays, housewarmings, or simply to share a little joy.

Crafted by a father, mother, and daughter trio, Ginshu Kiln is now in its fourth generation, offering a fresh take on overglaze painting and breathing new life into Kutani ware. Founded during the Meiji era by first-generation kiln master Bunkichi, a renowned figure in Kutani ware, the kiln is known for its nuanced, muted hues and whimsical motifs. Each piece is meticulously hand-painted, giving Ginshu Kiln’s overglaze decoration its distinctive warmth and character.
Origin
Kutani ware is a traditional Japanese porcelain from the Kaga region in Ishikawa Prefecture, with a history spanning over 350 years. Known for its vibrant overglaze enamel designs and use of five signature colors, known as Kutani gosai—navy blue, red, purple, green, and yellow pigments. This timeless craft has continuously evolved through generations of artisans who balance innovation with a deep respect for tradition.
Kutani ware exhibits a diverse range of distinctive styles, shaped by evolving artistic tastes over the centuries. Styles such as ko-Kutani, with its bold colors, geometric patterns, and painterly detail, and akae-saibyo, marked by ultra-fine red lines. Many pieces feature traditional Japanese motifs, such as kacho (flowers and birds) and sansui (landscapes), offering a timeless glimpse into the beauty of nature and the seasons.
