This Furoshiki is depicting one of the most famous works of Japanese art, "The Great Wave" by Katsushika Hokusai.
The contrast between stillness and movement, change and universality, and large and small is characteristic of this work, which has influenced many different artists.
Throughout his life, Hokusai painted "waves" as the main subject of his paintings.
He painted waves many times throughout his life, and repeatedly tried to capture the ever-changing movement of the water through trial and error.
This Furoshiki is made using a traditional method unique to Japan called "Chirimen" which gives it a unique texture with an uneven surface.
It is perfect for wrapping precious gifts or as a bag for daily use.
We also have a 104cm(41in) Furoshiki with the same design, please check that out too.
