These chopsticks were produced by combining Wakasa lacquer and Kutani ware painting, and have been manufactured since before Edo period. The chopsticks are compatible with dishwashers, so good for either daily use or gifts.
Wakasa lacquer chopsticks are manufactured in Obama, Fukui. Unlike assembly-line production, they are individually made by professionals, so each has its own feature, which is one of the best parts of Wakasa lacquer products.
Ko-Kutani is one of the most traditional style of Kutani Ware. It’s characteristics are a mighty and lovely design and flowing hairline with five colors of paint (green, yellow, red, purple, dark blue). The style attracts by its dynamic subtle charm. This style prospered under the guidance of Morikage Kusumi, expert of the Kanoschool of Japanese painting.
In early Taisho era, (about 100 years ago) Seikou porcelain opened its kiln in Nomi city of Ishikawa prefecture.
Seikou porcelain researched Japanese overglaze paint for Kutani for years. Finally, they realized the product with high quality like hand paint by printing paper. Transparency of glassy glaze and thick overglaze paint are as same quality as hand paint work.
